Receiving and Communicating Revelation

This class was created by the Driscoll's in their desire to bring a real natural approach to what it means to have communion and communication with God.

It is their desire to create a safe atmosphere rooted and grounded in the love and affection of the Father that will be the perfect incubator for people to explore what revelation is and how to receive and communicate it with the heart of God.

Our hearts are for instruction that will broaden peoples ability to hear from God and deepen their understanding of the ways that God speaks as well as the meaning of what He is saying.

It is the intention of this class to reach those that have walked with revelatory gifts in their lives and ministries as well as to come along side those that are curious and yet have hesitations.

Beyond instruction there will be times for demonstration, participation and questions.

We desire to equip people to express God in all the social cultures that they encounter throughout the day whether it be in church or in the work place, in school or out in a store. What can you expect from the Foundations of Freedom Series Part 2?

What is a stronghold?

How does it inhibit me?

A stronghold is something that would hinder you or block you from God's presence, provision or truth.

In 2 Corinthians 10 we see that “though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses (strongholds).”

In part 2 of the Foundation of Freedom Series we will look at the six categories of strongholds that can affect a believer's life and learn how to be free of them.It is our desire that nether false conclusions, personal high places, weights, sins, curses or soul ties would inhibit you from experiencing the fullness of all that God has for you.

The goal of this study and really for our whole lives flows forth from John 14:30 in which Jesus tells us that “the ruler of this world is coming and he has nothing in Me.”

With nearly two decades of teaching and ministering experience they have seen hundreds of people set free as the truth of Father's affections are expressed. I spent several years reading everything I could find on dreams and visions in an attempt to understand my own dreams and experiences with God. Many of the things I read seemed to contradict each other and I ended up more confused than when I started.

I am so thankful for my friend who told me about Stir the Water!

I started out interpreting dreams on the website at level 1, not really knowing what to do, but within the first few dreams, I learned how to find out the important elements and not get sidetracked with all the details. This made an immediate difference in my ability to understand my own dreams better.

As soon as I reached level 3, I signed up for my first mentoring class. I was really nervous, but Tanya Dwyer made me feel right at home. I was amazed with how much I learned in that first session!

The mentors pass along knowledge that would take years for a person to learn on their own, and everything comes from a biblical perspective. In 5-6 weeks, I feel like I learned more than a year of my own study. Tanya and Drew are both so good at asking the right questions until we figure out the answers.

They teach you how to think things through and stress the importance of asking God for the interpretation. It's really easy to log in for the sessions, and I love the feedback I receive with each dream I turn in.

I would recommend the website and the mentoring classes to anyone who wants to learn more about interpreting dreams. I truly am amazed with how much I have learned in such a short period of time! (I am starting my 6th mentoring class next week.) Thank you so much for creating a safe place to learn about dreams.

Apprentice Level Mentoring

Bringing back apprentice level mentoring starting the week of March 25, 2012! Registration for the mentoring sessions will be open soon.

Drew McGee and Tanya Dwyer will be doing mentoring classes for those at the beginning of the Dream Training journey on Stir The Water.

Mentoring is a valuable service that we have made available for new users to the dream training aspect to Stir The Water or for those who have been stuck in a rut and want help moving on.

Who is this for? If you are wanting to begin the process of becoming a trained interpreter or have already started and have become stuck, this is your opportunity to be taught and mentored on the dreams required to be done at that level. This mentoring opportunity will help you advance and grow in your interpreting abilities through live demonstration, discussion, and example.

Why would you want to have mentoring? This will help you to advance through the process more quickly as well as providing you with continuous support and teaching as you continue to reach higher levels in the process.

What will be covered? We will discuss 3-5 dreams in each session. We will be discussing the focus of each dream, identifying intrinsic and extrinsic dream, discussing important elements in each dream, as well as summarizing each dream so that each student will be able to clearly write an interpretation that fits each dream. Your interpretations will then be evaluated by the mentor so that you can receive personal feedback and support as you progress.

As we continue to create online training opportunities our desire is to equip and nurture believers into all that they are called to become.... Between class offerings, group mentoring, personal mentoring and new online exercises we believe that we are moving ahead with what God has for us as a community.

An Apology From A Christian

I am sorry for the ways that Christians have behaved like idiots in your life.

I am sorry for the times they said one thing and did another.

I am sorry for the way you opened up your heart to them, believing they were representatives of a good God, and then they didn’t even really ‘see’ you, and they trampled over you with their agenda to earn badges for God.

I regret, I deeply regret, the hypocrisy that was portrayed and how it has left you with a sour flavor wondering if that is who God really is.

The ways that religion and its man mamade rules were purported as a higher way was wrong. The things you were told you had to quit or change were told to you by people who did not understand the model of transforming love. They took a role God did not intend for them to take. Their assignment was to love you. In not doing that well, you got hurt.

I wish that had not happened. I wish you had not been hurt.

I am sorry that you were seen as a project that someone else could use to gain approval with God.

I am sorry for the dishonor-for the ways your culture and heritage were not respected. I apologize for the disregard of your personal story and history, and the way you were devalued as an individual.

I am sorry for the judgments; for the times when you were made to feel like a lesser than, or left feeling ignorant because the Christians all seemed to have a certain language they assumed you should know. I am sorry for the times you felt excluded. That is the very opposite of love. I am sorry for the times that ‘punishment’ included not letting you belong if you didn’t ‘behave’ according to their rules. How painful that is!

I just wanted to let you know today, I don’t know your story, but I would like to. When we sit down and talk, I don’t have an agenda. I have done worse things than most people, so it’s easy for me to not judge you. I don’t believe there is a set of rules that transforms me. I think it’s Love. I give you permission to call me out if I get religious. I think if we learn each other’s language we may be friends. I am hopeful that we can learn things from each other. I am sure we will find things to laugh about. I would like to try.

I am a Christian. To me, that means I follow the way of Love. I hope you won’t hold it against me.

Cart Before The Horse

Recently I was talking with a friend who does ministry.

Because of the amount of ministry I do, sometimes we enjoy sharing the glory stories, of times when the Lord shows up in amazing ways that are obviously beyond our human capacity. We were agreeing on this marvel, that when he comes that way there is no doubt of who will get the glory, and that is actually a safeguard for us. We agreed it keeps us from falling into pride.

As we were talking I felt the prick of God’s Spirit and I knew he was about to bring fresh revelation.

What I heard, as I was speaking to my friend, is, you think this comes first.

When God supersedes our imperfection with his excellence, and moves through us in a glorious way to take territory on the earth for his kingdom, we consider this the main event. We continually position ourselves in the hopes that this will again occur. The anointing is a heady feeling, and this is the most common avenue we experience it.

We can be assured that those who know us and are familiar with our flaws will recognize God. No one will think we are puffed up because it will be so obviously beyond what those around us know as our capabilities.

In a way, when this happens for us, it is easy to feel legitimized. It is as though God spoke from heaven and said, “although they are imperfect, they are doing enough things right so I can flow through them and use them to demonstrate myself.”

Is this our model? And, doesn’t it put the cart before the horse?

When Father spoke from heaven to legitimize Jesus, what did he say? “This is my son, in whom I well pleased.”

The legitimization that has to precede all is the confidence of sonship.

When we operate as sons, the emphasis shifts. Instead of the emphasis being that God is using me and everyone can tell, my joy comes because Father is being seen. Not because of me, not despite me, but because it is good for Father to be seen.

This takes the focus off of us comparing each other’s lives with the intent of seeing who is best positioning themselves to be used by God. This erases the competition of desiring to show God the best. I believe, if our heart rejoices when Father is seen, that we can truly love each other and find delight in the different expressions of God among us.

We are not at war with, or in competition of, each other. We are on the same side. What would it look like if the emphasis was not on our kingdom, but on His? When we know sonship, we perceive family. Family sees it differently. And God is love.

Squirrel on a Wire

Driving to work today, I noticed a squirrel running across a wire. He was quick and sure footed. He ran across without a care or concern. It didn’t appear that the squirrel had any doubt in his ability to run across the wire. It made me wonder why the squirrel didn’t run across the road. Did he have a bad experience? Did his sister get run over by a car? What if this squirrel had a fear of heights? Then it wouldn’t run across the wire. Maybe his fear would cause him to walk across the wire carefully with hesitation. But this little squirrel had no trouble at all.

Squirrels do what come naturally for them. They do what they were born to do. No one had to tell the squirrel to run across the high wire, it did it to get to the other side. It adapted to the environment around it. Where there was no tree, it improvised.

So what were your born to do? Are you living the life you were created for? What comes naturally to you, but you ignore it because it’s too easy. Is there a change that has to be made in order to adapt to your environment. Did you have a bad experience and now have abandoned that first love? Did you have a dream that you thought would never come true? Does fear of heights hinder your desire to reach for the stars? Do you have to be perfect to pursue your passion? Do you even have to be good at it? Who sets those standards . . . you, a teacher, a parent, or a friend?

Sometimes we think we have no talent because something comes easily and naturally. Some people can sing and never had a singing lesson. I know that some people have this raw talent and it becomes better with lessons. That’s not the point I’m making here. I could have a million lessons and I doubt this side of heaven I could hit a note on key. This doesn’t stop me from singing passionately. You don’t have to feel bad for me. I sing anyway . . . alone in the car and in the shower. Besides I’m cute and have other talents. If singing was among them, it just wouldn’t be fair.

There is nothing as satisfying as doing what you were born to do. Nothing as satisfying as living the life God wants for you. What’s your passion? What makes you feel free and excited? What drives you? You can do what you are passionate about even if you don’t get paid for it. Do you want to run on the ground or on a high wire? I want to run on the high wire freely and passionately towards what God has planned for me. One of my passions is writing. I may never get published by a publishing company, but I will continue to write. Writing doesn't come naturally for me, but it was what I was born to do. It’s what I’m passionate about. It’s what gives me pleasure. It’s becoming more natural as time goes on. Sometimes a seed is all we need. When we allow it to grow, we can be surprised at the outcome.

Of course I’m talking about things we do, not passion about people. I’m much more passionate about my relationships than what I do, but you get the idea.

There are times when something just feels so right... In this season of new beginnings I feel like fireworks of excitement are going off within the Stir The Water family... So many new elements to our life together emerging and being released!!!

As our team came together and began really thinking through Hearts that Comprehend the idea of ministering to people in all walks of life .. those living out all different circumstances and scenarios truly entered our hearts... In little ways and in larger ways we began to hunger and desire to create pathways for people to be able to come together and glean from each other and each other's experiences.

Sitting next to Nadine Zawacki at Thanksgiving was an amazing moment for me.... I had just finished visiting three colleges with my oldest son (and entire family) and the reality of his time being daily with us becoming short was upon me... Enter Nadine! An amazing woman and the list of adjectives could go on and on but what I leaned into that night was her wisdom for being a mom to aging children.

I literally leaned into her.. she's a momma.. she knows.... and she knew my heart .. she had walked that road... out of her mouth came solid wisdom and advice on how to love my growing son well... how to let him go and how to know where to step in and where to release....

My time with her is exactly what we want to bring to you personally... and we call it "Little Offerings"

For Example another member of our team wrote this one up for me as an example... and while it is an example it is brillliant and I know that it will minister...

Scenario 1

My spiritual walk has gotten blasé. Everything that I have done before just seems rote. There isn’t any life and I feel disconnected from God.

Offering: Can you trace back to a specific day or time when this shut down? There may be a decision or judgment there that needs to be addressed. Sometimes we need to reconnect to God before we can find this stuff. Think back to a moment where your heart was alive and filled with zeal. Activate your spiritual senses in this memory, remembering the smell of this moment, and what the air around you felt like. Immerse yourself in this place as fully as you can. Touch that aspect of God that you touched in this moment and ask him, what he wants you to know about your current place that feels barren. Write what you hear.

So now we ask you..... write in with your scenarios.... write in with your stories..... let's walk together and lean upon one another and the areas that we have journeyed... Where one is weak let us be strong.. and where one mourns let us all bring comfort ... and where one is in need of wisdom let him ask and receive... Stir the Water family let's do what we do best... let's be family together... let's love one another... let's learn what it means to be community ... Let us stand beside one another and lift one another up....

I am excited... Stir The Water... I am excited for all that the Lord has for us.... We are learning to love.. and You, my sweet friends, amaze me!!! You love so very well!!!

Rubbing the Wrong Way

I have an awesome wife. Not many men get to marry their childhood sweethearts, but I did. We recently celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary, pretty cool. Together, over the years we have learned some wonderful lessons.

As newlyweds we discovered that reddi-wip will remove paint from freshly painted walls.

We discovered that poison ivy can cut your honeymoon short.

We discovered that American Express really does expect you to pay the full amount at the end of every month.

As new parents we discovered that we actually were allowed to unwrap our newborn from that tightly wrapped baby blanket no matter how scary the maternity ward nurse was.

We discovered that potty training your first born while eight months pregnant with the second child is NOT a good combination. And neither is looking after your 3 year old son while watching the Giant’s play football on Sunday afternoon.

We’ve discovered that no matter how much I like to cook (and I’m pretty good at it), she is STILL the Queen of her Kitchen!

We discovered that only mommy knows how to comb out an 8 year old daughter’s hair, daddy just won’t do.

We discovered a double standard when our children would date. I was fine when my son took out a lovely young lady on a date. But Mamma, grumbled in the back ground. We also discovered that when our daughter would date Momma was all smiles and giggle while I would growl, stare him down, offer a grip of death handshake, while holding a finely tuned 5 hp extra sharp chainsaw in my left hand.

As God has moved us around the country we have left some awesome friends behind. Even our children will grow up and move on… that being the case, we had better like each other, and we do.

We’ve learned that in the best times and the worst times, I want her there with me, There is no one else I would rather celebrate with. She is the one I look to for encouragement, her presence comforts me.

We have also learned that when I ask her to rub my back, she’ll do it but she tends to rub my back in the places hers is hurting, I do the same thing. Occasionally I’ll be asked to rub her feet, not a problem. However, I’ve noticed that I do tend to rub her feet where my feet hurt.

So here’s today’s $64,000.00 question… Do you touch, rub, reach out, care for, cook, listen to even or pray for others where you personally desire to be touched?

Chapman defines the love languages as” Physical Touch, Words of Affirmation, Receiving Gifts, Quality Time or Acts of Service. My love language is “Words of Affirmation. Nadine’s is between Physical Touch.

we are often asked about the benefits of online seer and prophetic training... Read this testimony and wonder no longer....

Yesterday at Bread of Life, the local food distribution center where I volunteer, I was praying for people. A young very petite female came and sat across the table from me - her lips were pierced, her eyebrow was pierced, her nose was pierced, I think... she had "LOVE" tattooed on her right knuckles and "HATE" tattooed on her left knuckles.

I asked her what I could pray with her about today and she said "well, I am going to have a baby I smiled back at her and asked if we knew what the baby is and she said "boy" and if we knew his name and she touched her belly and said "yes... his name is Joey" "He is due in March and Joey's daddy is doing just fine and working very hard."

She held out her hands and I grabbed hold of them and the love of Christ began to exude from her into me. I prayed for her, for Joey, for the daddy. The love of Christ was so strong from her. Holy Spirit was just saturating us there.

A story came to me about the man who went out to speak to a farmer and while he was waiting for the farmer to come back to the house the farmers wife was standing at the sink washing dishes when her son came up to her and had a magazine full of photos.

The little boy had a question about one of the pictures and had come to inquire about them to his mother. To the mans surprise the farm wife stopped washing the dishes, dried her hands off, picked up the little boy and sat down at the table with him and began to communicate with him about the specific picture that he had the question about. Once the question was answered to the boys satisfaction he jumped off her lap and went on about his day. The farm wife got up and went to finish the dishes.

The man sat in complete aw and disbelief at what he had just witnessed. He asked the farmers wife why she did that. She told him that she'll have dishes to wash every day - but her son will never have "that question" ever again. ....

I looked directly into the young mothers eyes as I was holding her hands and I said "you are that kind of mother" and huge tears welled up in her eyes and she looked back and me with quivering lips and shook her head "yes". She said "people only see the piercings and the tattoos - they never see my heart."...

Jesus sees your heart. I began to speak Word into her and pray for her about what i saw for her and her son. About the kind of mother she is and how much Love of Holy Spirit is exuding out of her. I was given such a beautiful opportunity to share such love with this young mother,her unborn son Joey, and Holy Spirit that I told her I didn't want to let go of her hands because Holy Spirits love was so strong and I just wanted to set and enjoy it she laughed.

Eventually I wrapped things up and let her go - as she was leaving she stopped, and paused, looked back at me and smiled ... then she turned and went on. Again my life has been pierced with love and I will cherish this piercing forever.

I have learned so much from Stir the Water. I honestly think that I would not be able to function like I do out in the community without the training that Stir The Water has provided for me. I am extremely thankful for the live group and the 24 hour exercise room. The interacting with live people has built my confidence up and all I have to do is remember the love and press forth to conquer another with that same love. As a leader in a ministry one has vision and mission statements and the hope that that which the energy is being poured out into is accomplishing the heart beat of the tasks at hand.... What are seer and prophetic exercises? This question comes up and I talk about how it is a training ground so that in a safe environment people can learn and practice hearing from God. Our heart has been that they learn to do this so that as they go out into their daily lives they have the confidence in their heart that as a son or a daughter they are hearing from their Father.. Creator.. Lord ... and can bless those that they encounter throughout their day. Every once and awhile feedback comes in that expresses the vision and the heart beat better than I have ever been able to do... With that I wanted to share excerpts from a letter recently received from a member of the Stir The Water Community... This is "Why Seer and Prophetic Exercises?" To those at Stir the Water, I wanted to thank you for the wonderful environment you have created for people like me, people seeking after the Lord and wanting to learn and grow in their prophetic gifting. Since I joined the site in March of 2009, I have had the most profound experiences with Jesus that I have had in my entire life. I heard from him so clearly through the personal exercises. Specifically “where is Jesus in the Room”. It is something that has changed my prayer life and confidence in Jesus forever. In addition to that, many of the words from the Lord through others I have received in the Live Class and Live Exercise Room have been accurate and encouraging and invaluable in some areas of my life. The Lord is truly with us in class. His presence is tangibly felt and you have truly created a unique environment. Life in The Spirit: Come Up Higher... How do we walk in natural way in the spirit and with one another, growing in maturity and gifting and love? Join us as we endeavor to create an intimate atmosphere filled with the Spirit. It is our heart's desire to create community and equip sons and daughters to walk in the fullness of their identity in Christ. As we thought about this meeting the Lord highlighted that it was to be the 2cd and 4th Thursday of the month... As He did we began to feel like there was a scripture that would point us to the heart beat of this meeting. When we stepped into prayer it was clear it would come forth from Isaiah. I (mims) remember reading that scripture Isaiah 2:4 for the first time and weeping. This is the heart beat of this meeting: Isaiah 2:4 And He will judge between the nations, And will render decisions for many peoples; And they will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, And never again will they learn war. What it meant to us was this: That the Lord wants unity ... deep, strong unity... where "nations" or denominations stop their fighting and we come together taking that which we used to attack one another "swords" and we turn them into tools that will win the lost and woo the hearts of the lost back to the Father. That we, as Christians, will not lift up our "swords" against each other and no longer will we learn war but we will learn love and unity. These meetings entitled, Life in the Spirit: Come up Higher, will have a time of fellowship, teaching, and hands on activation. We will also allot plenty of time for group discussion. Jeremiah 29:11 states “I know the plans I have for you; plans to prosper you and not to harm you… give you a hope and a future..” Our yesterday’s don’t get to dictate the tomorrow’s and our current situations that don’t align with the heart of Father as it is don’t get to have their way… their hooks can be removed and overcome…. His desire is for you…… Journal Prompt #2 Beginning of Chapter 3 shows us Much Afraid not knowing the Shepherd’s nature and character as firmly as she will… we read right in the beginning that she accuses Him in her heart “Gone without me! Yes, left me behind.” She is as of yet unable to hold onto the truth of His affection for her…. The fear is routed to experience. What is the door way for her to believe a lie about the nature and character of the Chief Shepherd? What are the door ways for you to believe lies about the nature and character of our Lord? What Experience? What in her history imprinted upon her heart and told her she would be left behind? She would be rejected? What in our histories imprint upon us and leave us vulnerable to the lies of the world, our own flesh, the enemy? What experiences in our own lives do we have lingering, “imprints,” “lies” or programming have us trapped believing falsehoods about ourselves and our God? Journal prompt #3 We read along in the chapter “It seemed to suffocate her as she lay there in bed. She sat up, shivered with cold and with the horror of the thought. She could not bear it if He had gone and left her behind.” In the dark of the night time are there thoughts that come in and suffocate you? Steal your breath? Follow the trail of them. Where do they lead you? Do they lead you to an event? Do they lead you to a person? Acknowledge the event… look at it and allow yourself to see it for what it was… ask the Lord to show you His heart for you in regards to that which took place… replacing a lie you believed with the truth of our God….. Is it a person tied to the event then it is important to not just go through forgiveness but to search your own heart and see if you have lingering anger or bitterness against that person. While praying and forgiving the person also spend time repenting for where your own heart stepped into judgment and ask the Lord to help you navigate the emotions of your heart in regards to the person involved. Journal Prompt #4 Something comes into our lives… possibly a crisis but it can be a multitude of things such as a class, a conference, a person…… whatever it is it provokes us away from what we’ve known … away and out to search for more… to risk… to find out for ourselves if something more or something different than what we have known is out there… When we get desperate enough for change no longer do we make excuses but we allow the hunger for something different to propel us forwards … even into the unknown…. What patterns of life or what lies about yourself are you just tired of believing or watching have affect in your life…. Look at them and pray for eyes to see where it is that the Lord could be calling you forward to….. As Much Afraid approaches the undershepherds they ask her “Who are you?” It is a great question….. Do you know who you are? I think of Simba in the original Lion King and the statement…”You don’t even know who you are..” But there is a path… it isn’t vacant… we can know who we are … who exactly it is that we are….. and we can overcome and take our place as sons and daughters of the Most High King… it is a journey and there is much to be traveled through but we can do it… I can do it… You can do it… we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength….. Journal Prompt #5 As we near the end of the chapter we get to see how the truth of what Much Afraid already had learned about the Chief Shepherd comes into play and how she chooses to grab a hold of it… We see her learning to lean into the character and nature of the Shepherd. “It came to her mind that He who understood her so well, who knew all about her fears and had compassion on her, would not leave until He was quite sure that she really meant to refuse to go with Him.” She lifted her eyes, looked across the Valley toward the eastern mountains and the High Places……… Much – Afraid ceased trembling and said to herself, “I will go to the trysting-place, and see if He is waiting for me there…. ALMOST FORGETTING THAT SHE WAS LAME, She sped toward the distant trees which fringed the pool.” Overcoming the lies and the past experiences with the truth and the reality of new experiences…. HE WAS THERE!!!! HE hadn’t left… NEVER WILL HE LEAVE … NEVER will He forsake… Journal Prompt #6 Where we get to see that although we might feel that we have missed out… or been left behind… we haven’t… nothing can separate us from the love of God .. nothing!!! And we read that Much Afraid hadn’t missed out on anything except the peace of knowing that the Shepherd was telling her when to meet Him… What in our fears do we allow the lies of the enemy to say we have missed it? That we are too old or too young… that we aren’t able for whatever reason? The truth is that He does know the plans He has for us and they are to prosper us and not to harm us… they are to give us hope and a future…. And He is able to keep us and guide us…….

Journal Prompts for Week 2 of Hinds Feet on High Places 9/22/11

Journal Prompts for Hinds Feet on High Places for Week 2 In chapter one we see how Much Afraid has declared her desire to follow the Shepherd to the High Places…. We see her allow the Chief Shepherd to plant into her heart a seed of love and as a result she starts feeling new emotions and new confidence. Before she has gone too far the character, Craven Fear, jolts her and she is struck by how the old emotions and fears come sweeping back…. Doubt creeps in concerning if she has changed at all…. Journal Prompt… New truths land and when they land the realizations of them bring life. However they are new… and there is no history of walking in them… We need to embrace the new truths and allow grace and time to have their way so that the roots can grow deep…. What new truths ARE you learning? Pray for grace and truth to grow deep inside. Pray that you would not receive condemnation in these new areas and that you would give yourself grace to learn the ways of love …. An infant learns to walk by taking steps and falling… No one condemns that baby for falling they are just excited that they took those steps… extend grace to yourself…. “Even as she thought of this, doubt mingled with the sweetness. Surely it could not possibly be true; just a beautiful dream, but not reality.” Journal Prompt… It is reality… so much more than we could ever think or imagine…. Truth versus believed lies and/ or experience. Doubts arise and open a way for the whispers of the enemy. Pray that your heart grows strong and confident in the truth of the love of the Father so that those lies get exposed and shown up for what they are. Pay attention to how Old Lord Fearing comes… Journal Prompt: How does He come? Ask yourself.. re-read how he speaks to Much Afraid. He comes differently from Craven fear but it is even more sinister. Why? When past things are still too familiar what has been known or thought to be true can “feel” more true than the Truths we’ve begun to learn. We don’t fully know how to walk into the new truths our souls are learning. Journal Prompt: Can you see this pattern in your life? What past ways of believing still feel more real or true to your soul than the truths of the Father? Write those down…. Begin to pray over them and ask Father to change and strengthen your heart. Much Afraid allows her fearing family in but finally finds her voice as she calls out for her neighbor, Mrs. Valiant, there are times where we might not be able to see the way of escape from an emotion or negative habit. But what are we promised? 1 Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you but such is as common to man and God is faithful who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.” God always leaves a way of escape… We always have a choice.. we can choose to live to the spirit or we can choose to live to the flesh. Perspective and attitude are extremely vital as we step into those moments of choice. What we focus on we will empower. As a man thinks so shall he be…. Need to learn our authority… In the movie Labyrinth the lesson is learned that “you have no power over me.” Remember Craven Fear in chapter one when the Chief Shepherd walks onto the scene…. Journal Prompt: What are you giving over power to? Pray about “legal rights” are there areas that you need to walk into repentance of? Are there shifts to the way you think about certain events or circumstances that have to align more with the mind of Christ? Ask Father to reveal these things to you? Journal Prompt: What things in your life still exert their authority where in truth they have none? Finally towards the end of our discussion we shared about how Mrs. Valiant knew enough to not chastise Much Afraid, to not heap condemnation upon her already bewildered soul. Journal Prompt: Are you that kind to yourself? Re-read those last pages of chapter 2 and really pay attention to how Mrs. Valiant treats Much Afraid and the understanding that she demonstrates to our main character. Pray that you would be so kind to yourself in these new beginnings as you journey further into the things Father is calling you towards.

Journal Prompts for Chapter One of Hinds Feet on High Places for Book Club meeting 9/14/11

Fear: Indicator of places in need of perfect love Anxiety: Lack of understanding of the care, concern, and compassion of God My people perish for lack of understanding... parts of our heart not necessarily the whole .. .what portions or parts of our hearts are still hindered by experience or past events. These areas of our hearts that need hope, healling and life end up hindering us from being able to fully grab ahold of the amazing truths of life in the spirit. Chapter one: Real accessment of where you are.... Where do you live? We see Much Afraid living in the Valley of Humiliation. Do you live in the Valley of Regret, Rejection, Bitterness? Where do you live? Have you settled to live less than where you are called to live? We see in the opening page how Much Afraid would regard herself. "Cripple" "unsightly blemish" "disfigured" The truth of the fact that she is "all together beautiful and there is no blemish upon me" is far from her... How about you how do you regard yourself? We read in the opening pages this dialogue between the Chief Shepherd and Much Afraid. " I know, oh, I know," Cried Much Afriad,"but whenever I meet any of my relatives I seem to lose all my strength and simply cannot resist them, no matter how I strive. What in life causes you to lose strength? It is our hope and our desire through this book study that you cease striving and step into life... life of grace.. where it isn't about your efforts and your performance but it is about the love of the Father firmly living in your heart that you can go forth into your days boldly and confidently as a son or a daughter. Another really poignant moment in Chapter one comes when again the Chief Shepherd and Much Afraid are in conversation and He says to her, "But there is another thing I must tell you. Not only would I have to make your feet like hinds' feet, but you would have to receive another name, for it would as impossible for a Much-Afraid to enter the Kingdom of Love as for any other member of the Fearing family. Are you willing to be changed completely, Much-Afraid, and to be made like the new name which you will receive if you become a citizen in the Kingdom of Love?" We need to be willing to change how we regard ourselves. We entered into dialogue concerning what parts of your life are you like the man at the pool of Bethsaida and in what parts of your life can you see you are like the woman with the issue of blood pushing through the crowds to get to Jesus in order to be healed. In what areas are you looking towards men to make it "better" and in what areas have you learned to push into Jesus? How can you turn all areas in your life towards pushing into Jesus? At one point in Chapter One .. Much-Afraid really sees her own heart and realizes that which is growing there and enters into confession of where she finds herself ? Spend time with the Lord this week and bare your heart to Him and "see" where you find yourself..... I have great hope because you are NOT staying there... remember!!! This is a journey to the high places ... Ponder the Statement: "If you would know love you must know pain too." We see sweet proclamations coming forth from Much-Afraid... innocently declaring her unwavering love and affection for the Chief Shepherd but yet she isn't fully aware of how even at the time where she is speaking forth trust her heart is not fully positioned to live completely there yet.... The desire is being birthed.... it will be matured.... she will have much to learn but she will learn... What are some areas in your life where you feel the desire to proclaim trust, love, affection and yet are not fully alive in those areas of your heart .... We see how an interaction with Craven Fear brings forth that which Much-Afraid was used to.... her old nature .. her old fears arise and steal her confidence.... Lies fill her heart .... Much-Afraid ends up speaking "What is the use of even thinking of going to the High Places? I could never reach them, for the least little thing is enough to turn me back." What lies like that whisper or even roar into your mind, your heart, your life.... What are the triggers? Let's stay in touch this week... and continue the discussion... Bless you

New Meeting Coming To Fort Mill, SC starting October 13

Join us as we endeavor to create an intimate atmosphere filled with the Spirit. It is our heart's desire to create community and equip sons and daughters to walk in the fullness of their identity in Christ. As we thought about this meeting the Lord highlighted that it was to be the 2cd and 4th Thursday of the month... As He did we began to feel like there was a scripture that would point us to the heart beat of this meeting. When we stepped into prayer it was clear it would come forth from Isaiah. I (mims) remember reading that scripture Isaiah 2:4 for the first time and weeping. This is the heart beat of this meeting: Isaiah 2:4 And He will judge between the nations, And will render decisions for many peoples; And they will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, And never again will they learn war. What it meant to us was this: That the Lord wants unity ... deep, strong unity... where "nations" or denominations stop their fighting and we come together taking that which we used to attack one another "swords" and we turn them into tools that will win the lost and woo the hearts of the lost back to the Father. That we, as Christians, will not lift up our "swords" against each other and no longer will we learn war but we will learn love and unity.
